Question:
What size vent
does your product fit?
Answer:
Our
product will cover most rectangular register boxes in the range of 4 to
8 inches in width by 10 to 14 inches in length. The outside measurement
of our product is 10 inches by 16 inches.
Question:
How long does your
product last?
Answer:
The
expected life of this plastic is at least ten years. High quality ABS
plastic is used which is similar to the type used in automobile
interiors. A one-year replacement warranty is provided.
Question:
How does your
product handle airflow in the corner of a room or against a wall?
Answer:
Airflow
from our product is directed in an omni-directional fashion at an angle
of about 45 degrees from horizontal. If the product is placed on the
ceiling near a wall, air flow bounces off the wall and back out into the
room. Similarly, when it is mounted in a corner, airflow will be
reflected off both walls and redirected back into the room.
Question:
What kind of monthly savings can I
expect on my electric bill?
Answer:
I
f
you install our whole house day/night zoning system with about 50% of
the house in each zone, our test data indicates that you should save an
average of 25 percent on the portion of your energy bill that is related
to heating or cooling.
Question:
With your product can I reduce the size
of my air conditioning system?
Answer:
If
you are designing a new home and can provide a system of oversize
ductwork, then you generally can downsize the total tonnage of your air
conditioning system and still remain comfortable in your home.
Question:
How can your
product provide zoning for a house?
Answer:
Our
product is used to direct airflow to the areas where it is needed on a
room-by-room basis. This is accomplished by controlling airflow at the
ceiling register. This means that you can have a zone as small as a
single room or as large as you wish. Zoning is not limited to just day
and night. Our system can accommodate special types of automated zoning
such as a party zone consisting of those rooms where you entertain
guests, a children's zone where they sleep and play or a guest zone
consisting of guest bedrooms and common areas. Our systems can also be
reconfigured in an almost unlimited fashion with local control switches
that allow the temporary or permanent separation of one or more rooms
from a primary zone into a smaller independently controllable zone. The
bottom line is enough flexibility to satisfy almost any need.
Question:
Will your system cause problems with my
air conditioning system?
Answer:
Closing
ceiling registers does cause air duct pressure to rise. This causes the
inside fan blower motor to work harder and use more electrical energy.
If leaks are present in the air duct system, the increased pressure will
cause increased air leakage. However, these inefficiencies are more than
offset by the energy saved by the significantly reduced run time on the
entire HVAC system. Most modern fan motors will continue to provide
adequate airflow across the indoor coils at an elevated duct pressure.
Older systems with significantly undersized ducts and/or undersized fan
motors are not good candidates for zoning. Optimum efficiencies are
obtained in new homes by increasing air duct system size and reducing
the system capacity (tonnage).
