Microflow 2000™Attractive New LookA
dramatically new automated ceiling register design replaces those
antiquated metal registers of yesteryear that collect dust, rust and
whistle when closed. This new aerodynamically smooth design provides a
pleasingly sleek look that blends well with any décor. The registers
are molded from durable, rust-free ABS plastic in a ceiling white color
that can also be painted or stained to match existing colors.
Lower-cost, manually controlled versions are also available to maintain
this exciting new look throughout any structure. Improved ComfortConditioned
air is only provided where and when it is needed, which eliminates the
energy waste associated with heating or cooling an entire structure. The
aerodynamic design of the MicroFlow 2000TM ceiling register
bathes the entire room. This eliminates the chilling effect created by
conventional louvered registers, particularly when heat pump systems are
used. Significant Energy SavingsUsing
whole-house day/night zoning, average HVAC system energy savings of 25%
or more have been measured over complete cooling and heating day
periods. During periods of peak demand, savings of 50% have been
demonstrated. The low system purchase price combined with this dramatic
energy savings provides a rapid return on investment and improved
comfort. Easy to InstallInstallation
is identical to conventional registers using two screws. On the back of
each register are reference bosses that can be easily drilled to fit
standard register plate hole patterns. For automated registers, a single
modular telephone cable is routed through the attic crawl space and then
through a small opening in the duct near the register box. From inside,
the modular cable is plugged into one of two modular (telephone type)
jacks on the register and the register is mounted using two screws
provided. The two jacks provide the option of setting each register to
“normally closed” or to “normally open” when the system control
switch is “off.” Modular Tee connectors are used to provide
convenient connections for a short “drop” cable at each register
location. The modular cable supplying the registers is plugged into a
small “PowerHubTM” control module, which is then
connected to a 24 VAC plug-in transformer. Connecting a standard wall
switch completes the installation to the PowerHubTM, again
using modular cable and connectors. Homeowner FriendlyThere
are no expensive and complicated central control panels to program or
connect to the HVAC system. The control electronics fit inside a
hand-held, plug-in PowerHubTM module. Connections to the
power module are all via modular telephone connectors. A single room or
a complete home or office can be controlled with a single contact
closure. The closure can be provided from a wall switch, a programmable
thermostat or timer, a home automation system such as X10* or any other
device that can provide a closure. Easy to Clean and MaintainThe
smooth contoured surfaces at the ceiling reduce dust collection and they
are easier to clean. A simple pole-mounted dust mop is all that is
needed to clean the surfaces. There are no metal parts to rust or
collect dust. The actuation mechanism uses a highly reliable timer motor
and mechanical components that do not require lubrication. If service is
required, all components are easily accessed from inside the room, not
the attic. Flexible Zoning CapabilitiesA
MicroFlow2000TM zone can be as small as a single room or as
large as needed. Day/Night or other types of complement zoning
assignments are accomplished at each register by connecting the modular
drop cable to the appropriate jack. Constant systems airflow is provided
by allowing flow to be reduced in one zone as it is simultaneously
increased in the other (complementary) zone. Room by room zone
assignment throughout the structure can be made without regard to how
the duct work is distributed or where the rooms are located. Home or OfficeThe
universal, one-size-fits-all, registers easily attach to standard
register boxes in homes, offices, or hotel rooms. Control can be
accomplished at the point of entry, from a remote location, under time
or temperature control, or under programmed or wireless remote control
using the X10* family of home automation products. The occupant can
override any programmed or timed control with a simple click of a switch
at any time. *X10 is a
